Portion of Fair Avenue to be Closed During Sewer Installation

The installation of new sewer service to a retail center will result in daytime closures of a portion of Fair Avenue tomorrow and Wednesday.

Fair Avenue between Nob Hill Boulevard and Lafollette Street will be closed to all traffic from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on both Tuesday, May 12th and Wednesday, May 13th while sewer lines are extended to the Fiesta Foods retail center. That section of Fair Avenue will be open to traffic overnight on Tuesday.

A detour around the project area will route drivers along 6th Street to Wilson Lane and then back to Fair Avenue.

While the project is underway, drivers can expect delays on roads near the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed. Pickup of yard waste and refuse by City of Yakima crews may also be affected by the project.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area when necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For more information about the project, contact Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd at 575-6138.
