Tree Trimming on 80th Avenue to Affect Drivers

Tree trimming along 80th Avenue will result in the closure of portions of the northbound lane of the street for most of the day on Wednesday, November 19th.

City of Yakima crews will be cutting back branches on trees along the roadway to improve safety in the area. As a result, portions of the northbound lane of 80th Avenue within a few blocks in each direction from the Midvale Road/80th Avenue intersection will be closed from 9:00 am until about 3:00 pm on November 19th.

Flaggers will be in place to direct drivers to the one lane of 80th Avenue that will remain open. The southbound lane will be used to accommodate both northbound and southbound traffic on a rotating basis.

The westbound lane of Wide Hollow will remain open while the tree trimming project is underway, although traffic may be slowed in that lane between 80th and 96th.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained and traffic will be allowed through the project area when possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
