Year 2009 Yakima Urban Area Comprehensive Plan and Regulatory Amendment Process

     
 

The City of Yakima Department of Community and Economic Development will begin the 2009 annual amendment process to the Yakima Urban Area Comprehensive Plan.  Concurrently with this process, requests for the amendment of other land use regulations such as zoning and subdivision ordinances will also be accepted.  This year’s organizational meeting of the Regional Planning Commission will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, beginning at 3:00 pm in the City Council Chambers located at 129 N 2nd Street, Yakima, WA 98901.
Amendment application forms will be available from the City Planning Division beginning February 25, 2009.  The filing deadline is April 30, 2009.  Amendments to the Comprehensive Plan's Future Land Use Map require a $500 nonrefundable application fee whereas there is no fee for the submission of regulatory amendments.
The tentative schedule for this year’s amendment process is as follows:
February 25, 2009 - Forms and procedures available to the public
April 30, 2009 - Application deadline for amendments
May 13, 2009 - Regional Planning Commission Study Session
July 9, 2009 - City of Yakima Hearing Examiner Public Hearings (Rezone requests)
August 12, 2009 - Regional Planning Commission Public Hearings
September 15, 2009 - Joint City Council and Board of County Commissioner's Public Hearing
October 6, 2009 - Legislation adopting the findings and decision of the City Council and Board of County Commissioner's action on the amendments.
