{"id":10129,"date":"2021-01-21T08:50:52","date_gmt":"2021-01-21T16:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=10129"},"modified":"2021-01-21T08:50:53","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T16:50:53","slug":"city-council-to-consider-property-maintenance-code-revisions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-council-to-consider-property-maintenance-code-revisions\/","title":{"rendered":"City Council to Consider Property Maintenance Code Revisions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>During its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, the Yakima City Council will consider adopting the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City\u2019s Codes Division is requesting Council adopt the IPMC, including amendments reflecting local changes to that code, in the interest of public health and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Yakima welcomes comment on the proposal at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/codes\/\">Codes (yakimawa.gov)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If adopted, the 2018 IPMC would also repeal property maintenance codes in Yakima Municipal Code (YMC) Chapters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1107.html#11.07\">11.07<\/a> (Building Conservation Code), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1110.html#11.10\">11.10<\/a> (Neighborhood Conservation Code), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1113.html#11.13\">11.13<\/a> (Apartment House and Hotel Safety Code), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1120.html#11.20\">11.20<\/a> (1991 Uniform Housing Code), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1146.html#11.46\">11.46<\/a> (1991 Uniform Code of the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1148.html#11.48\">11.48<\/a>&nbsp;(Vacant Building Code) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codepublishing.com\/WA\/Yakima\/#!\/Yakima11\/Yakima1156.html#11.56\">11.56<\/a> (Building Security).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome of these codes are redundant and each has unique procedures to follow, as well as differing penalties among them,\u201d said Code Administration Manager Glenn Denman. \u201cThe IPMC covers all the issues found in those codes, but has a single procedure and a single penalty structure to follow.
