{"id":10174,"date":"2021-02-02T14:20:32","date_gmt":"2021-02-02T22:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=10174"},"modified":"2021-02-02T14:20:34","modified_gmt":"2021-02-02T22:20:34","slug":"city-council-approves-second-round-of-small-business-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-council-approves-second-round-of-small-business-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"City Council Approves Second Round of Small Business Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Yakima City Council has approved $266,406 for a second round of assistance for micro-businesses (five or fewer employees) for reimbursement of expenses related to COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application process for this second round is being finalized, with the program expected to launch the week of February 15<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A contract with the Yakima County Development Association (YCDA) to administer the grant funds is being prepared and will be presented to Council during its February 16<sup>th<\/sup> regular meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City Council on January 19<sup>th<\/sup> approved making the funds available to support the smallest businesses in the City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The money comes from a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a Federal program intended to expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, in July 2020, the City Council set aside $480,000 in CDBG funds to assist micro-businesses with expenses associated with COVID-19.
