{"id":11159,"date":"2021-09-23T09:28:18","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T16:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=11159"},"modified":"2021-09-23T09:28:20","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T16:28:20","slug":"sunfair-parade-kicks-off-fair-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/sunfair-parade-kicks-off-fair-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunfair Parade Kicks Off Fair Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After a year\u2019s hiatus due to COVID-19, the Yakima Sunfair Parade will follow its familiar route of more than one-and-a-half miles through Downtown Yakima on Saturday, September 25<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parade begins at 10:00 am and is anticipated to last until 1:00 pm. It is expected to include about 1,000 participants and 200 vehicles as it makes its way down Yakima Avenue from 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to Naches Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Mayor Holly Cousens will serve as the parade\u2019s grand marshal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants and spectators are asked to wear face coverings due to a statewide mask requirement for outdoor activities featuring 500 or more people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parade route will be closed to traffic, and side streets along the parade route will also be closed to through traffic while the parade is underway. As the last entries in the parade pass by the closed side streets, they will be reopened to traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, this Saturday 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue will be closed from Nob Hill Boulevard to Summitview Avenue from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm. Also, Yakima Avenue will be closed Saturday from 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to 6<sup>th<\/sup> Street from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the parade, Yakima Transit will not start bus service on any routes on Saturday until 12:45 pm.
