{"id":11578,"date":"2022-02-14T11:18:50","date_gmt":"2022-02-14T19:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=11578"},"modified":"2022-02-14T11:18:50","modified_gmt":"2022-02-14T19:18:50","slug":"city-offers-yak-back-hotline-to-report-potholes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-offers-yak-back-hotline-to-report-potholes\/","title":{"rendered":"City offers Yak Back, Hotline to Report Potholes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Potholes are not uncommon this time of the year due to the \u201cfreeze-thaw cycle\u201d Yakima experiences when precipitation, in the form of rain and\/or snow, seeps into small cracks within the asphalt pavement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cfreeze-thaw cycle\u201d causes moisture to contract and expand; increasing the size of the cracks. As vehicles travel over these cracks, the asphalt pavement begins to loosen, thereby creating potholes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City crews continually monitor for potholes, repairing them as quickly as possible to reduce further damage to the roadway and to ensure safety for drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 400-miles of streets in the City of Yakima, the City is asking for help in reporting potholes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHaving residents and community members reporting the locations of potholes, greatly assists Public Works in their effort in repairing them in a timely manner,\u201d said Public Works Director Scott Schafer. \u201cMore eyes on an issue provide for better results.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Potholes can be reported using the City\u2019s \u201cYak Back\u201d feature at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/yak-back\/\">https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/yak-back\/<\/a> or calling the City\u2019s Street Repair Hotline at (509) 576-6713.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-474e1862-e116-47a6-92fb-e4c54a54b5d6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Reporting-Potholes-News-Release-1.pdf\">Reporting-Potholes-News-Release-1<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Reporting-Potholes-News-Release-1.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-474e1862-e116-47a6-92fb-e4c54a54b5d6\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Potholes are not uncommon this time of the year due to the \u201cfreeze-thaw cycle\u201d Yakima experiences when precipitation, in the form of rain and\/or snow, seeps into small cracks within the asphalt pavement.
