{"id":11941,"date":"2022-06-08T11:08:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-08T18:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=11941"},"modified":"2022-06-08T11:08:44","modified_gmt":"2022-06-08T18:08:44","slug":"yvsiu-update-yakima-valley-special-investigations-unit-continue-to-investigate-an-officer-involved-shooting-incident-in-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yvsiu-update-yakima-valley-special-investigations-unit-continue-to-investigate-an-officer-involved-shooting-incident-in-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"YVSIU Update: Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting incident in Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Detectives with the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit (YVSIU) continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting incident, which occurred on 05\/30\/22 at approximately 2357 hrs in the 1200 block of N 1<sup>st<\/sup> St, Yakima Wa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officers involved in the shooting were identified as \u00a0Jesus Sanchez and Jon Charroin with the Yakima Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 30-year-old Yakima man involved, Zachary L Zimmerman, sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the shooting and was treated at Yakima Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Seattle Harborview Hospital for his injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No officers were injured during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 06\/07\/22 Zachary Zimmerman was discharged from Seattle Harborview Hospital. He was transported to the Yakima County Jail where he was booked on the charges of First-Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm RCW9.41.040(1)(a) and Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle RCW 9A.56.068 and 9A.56.140(1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This incident continues to be investigated by YVSIU.
