{"id":12105,"date":"2022-07-15T08:46:26","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T15:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=12105"},"modified":"2022-07-15T09:57:15","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T16:57:15","slug":"city-of-yakima-hosts-community-action-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-of-yakima-hosts-community-action-day\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Yakima Hosts Community Action Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>City of Yakima is hosting a Community Action Day to engage, educate, and empower Yakima residents to identify, report and eradicate vandalism throughout their neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community Action Day is 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, at Garfield Elementary School, 612 N. 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this event law enforcement, city officials, local schools, businesses and community organizations will begin to foster community relationships by clarifying the roles of law enforcement and city officials regarding vandalism abatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe City of Yakima aims to reduce vandalism cases by making neighborhood improvements to deter future criminal activity through graffiti abatement work,\u201d said Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What to expect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Participate in a community wide effort to cover up graffiti!<\/li><li>Claim a free paint bucket and supply kit to eradicate future vandalism on their own property (Limit 1 per household)<\/li><li>Create new substantive relationships with law enforcement, city officials and other community members to increase crime prevention efforts throughout Yakima<\/li><li>Free snacks and refreshments<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information contact Tony Doan at 509-576-6524 or e-mail <a href=\"mailto:tony.doan@yakimawa.gov\">tony.doan@yakimawa.gov<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community Action Day is funded through a grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce.
