{"id":14024,"date":"2024-02-07T09:17:58","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T17:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=14024"},"modified":"2024-02-07T09:22:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-07T17:22:47","slug":"city-council-extends-moratorium-on-downtown-parking-enforcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-council-extends-moratorium-on-downtown-parking-enforcement\/","title":{"rendered":"City Council Extends Moratorium on Downtown Parking Enforcement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A moratorium on enforcing parking violations in the downtown area of the City of Yakima is extended through April 19<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yakima City Council <a href=\"https:\/\/yakima.novusagenda.com\/agendapublic\/CoverSheet.aspx?ItemID=11021&amp;MeetingID=1125\">extended the moratorium<\/a> during its regular meeting last night, Tuesday. The moratorium applies to time limitations on streets and City-owned parking lots in the Central Business District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Council originally approved a 60-day moratorium on December 12<sup>th<\/sup>, 2023. Parking enforcement would have resumed February 12<sup>th<\/sup> absent any additional action by Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On January 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2024, Council held a study session and received public comment regarding downtown parking. The resolution approved last night extending the moratorium noted, \u201c\u2026the City Council wishes to fully evaluate the issues associated with parking downtown, and take into account the comments made at the January 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2024 study session\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with the original moratorium, parking infractions related to public safety will be enforced.
