{"id":14313,"date":"2024-05-15T08:49:16","date_gmt":"2024-05-15T15:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=14313"},"modified":"2024-05-15T08:49:17","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T15:49:17","slug":"yakima-airport-hosts-first-aviation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-airport-hosts-first-aviation-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Airport Hosts First Aviation Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field (YKM) hosts its inaugural Aviation Day on Saturday, June 1<sup>st<\/sup>, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The free, family-friendly event will include a variety of aircraft on display, with numerous booths highlighting the aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere will be aircraft of all kinds, food and fun!\u201d said Airport Director Rob Hodgman. \u201cWe hope this event will raise awareness among young people and adults about career opportunities in aviation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/flyykm.com\/aviation-day\/\">Aviation Day | FLY YKM<\/a> for more about the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parking will be available in YKM\u2019s main terminal, 2406 West Washington Avenue, or across the street at Perry Tech. ADA parking will be available at the event entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hodgman noted YKM\u2019s Aviation Day will not include an air show. \u201cAs this is a new event, we are only doing a display of aircraft,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, it will take place next to our 9\/27 runway, which will remain open to aircraft throughout Aviation Day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More about YKM is available by calling 509-575-6149, visiting YKM\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/flyyakima\/\">Facebook page<\/a> or e-mailing <a href=\"mailto:ykminfo@yakimawa.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ykminfo@yakimawa.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, a Fly In Pancake Breakfast is planned June 1<sup>st<\/sup> from 8:00 am to 11:00 am sponsored by EAA Chapter 206.
