{"id":14425,"date":"2024-06-12T11:26:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-12T18:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=14425"},"modified":"2024-06-12T11:35:23","modified_gmt":"2024-06-12T18:35:23","slug":"closures-celebration-planned-for-2024-juneteenth-observance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/closures-celebration-planned-for-2024-juneteenth-observance\/","title":{"rendered":"Closures, Celebration Planned for 2024 Juneteenth Observance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>City of Yakima offices and most non-emergency services will&nbsp;close Wednesday, June 19th, in observance of the&nbsp;Juneteenth holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Closures include City Hall, the Public Works office, the Y-PAC office and the Harman Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Business offices for the police and fire departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. Yakima Municipal Court will be closed for the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Transit will not provide bus service on June 19th. Garbage pick-up will not be delayed, but the Refuse Division office will be closed June 19th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local events are planned to mark Juneteenth, including a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 15<sup>th<\/sup>, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Southeast Community Park, 1211 South 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street. It\u00a0includes live music, food vendors, Mr. &amp; Ms. Juneteenth, free throw or 3-point challenge and resource booths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/oicofwa.org\/about\/news\/detail.html?calendarid=850\">Juneteenth Celebration &#8211; OIC of Washington<\/a> or call&nbsp;Carol Garza at&nbsp;206-660-4127 for more about the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday\u2019s celebration, with participation by several local organizations including Yakima Parks and Recreation, will be preceded by a Freedom Ride Caravan at 11:00 am.
