Work is underway to change Lewis Avenue from a two-way street to a one-way street southbound between Lincoln Avenue and Folsom Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crews are changing and installing new signage today, Thursday, September 12th<\/sup>, and tomorrow. It is anticipated that the section of Lewis Avenue will be a one-way street by Friday, September 13th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yakima City Council approved the Lewis Avenue change during its meeting on July 16th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The change to one-way traffic southbound on Lewis Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Folsom Avenue was prompted by recent housing developments in the area. Revising it to a one-way street will improve pedestrian and traffic safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
