The City of Yakima has announced the completion of the Russell Lane Intersection Realignment Project. Located on South 1st Street about 800 feet north of the Washington Avenue intersection, this project improved the connection between Russell Lane and South 1st Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously, Russell Lane\u2019s connection to South 1st Street was offset from an existing intersection, leading to safety and traffic flow issues. To resolve this, Russell Lane was shifted approximately 100 feet north to align directly with the signalized intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The $1 million project was supported by $832,000 from Yakima County Supporting Investments in Economic Development (SIED) program funds. The SIED program funds public infrastructure that catalyzes private investment and creates jobs in Yakima County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the first private developments to benefit from the improved access on Russell Lane is a 24-seat, quick-service restaurant, a venture that is projected to create 30 new jobs in Yakima with a total private investment of over $4 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
