City of Yakima offices and most non-emergency services will close Thursday, June 19th, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closures include City Hall, the Public Works office, Y-PAC office, Washington Fruit Community Center and Harman Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business offices for the police and fire departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. Yakima Municipal Court will be closed for the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yakima Transit will not provide bus service on June 19th. Garbage pick-up will not be delayed, but the Refuse Division office will be closed June 19th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City of Yakima pools will be open June 19th<\/sup>. These include Lions Pool, Franklin Pool and the new Aquatic Center at Martin Luther King Jr. Park<\/a>, which is scheduled to open following a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:00 pm on June 19th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During its meeting on June 3rd<\/sup>, the Yakima City Council issued a Juneteenth Week Proclamation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local events are planned to mark Juneteenth, including a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 14th<\/sup>, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The event will be preceded by a Freedom Ride Caravan at 11:00 am Saturday. It begins at Central Lutheran Church, 1604 West Yakima Avenue, and ends at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
