A citywide street repaving project that began in mid May and will continue until this fall will affect traffic in several areas of Yakima from June 30th<\/sup> through July 3rd<\/sup>. The City is spending about $15 million dollars this year completing a \u201cgrind and overlay\u201d project, which involves removing old and deteriorated asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt, in order to recondition more than 90 lane miles of roadway sections in different parts of Yakima.<\/p>\n

From Monday, June 30th<\/sup> through Thursday, July 3rd<\/sup>, periodic lane closures will occur each day from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm on Tieton Drive between 16th<\/sup> Avenue and 32nd<\/sup> Avenue, on 4th<\/sup> Avenue between Tieton and D Street, on W. MLK, Jr. Boulevard between 1st<\/sup> Avenue and Pierce Avenue, on Summitview Avenue between Yakima Avenue and 16th<\/sup> Avenue, and on 6th<\/sup> Street between Pacific Avenue and H Street.<\/p>\n

The following sections of streets will be completely closed to traffic overnight from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am on different days during the week of June 30th<\/sup> to July 3rd<\/sup>:<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 40th<\/sup> Avenue between Fruitvale and Summitview \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> and July 1st<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lincoln Avenue between 24th<\/sup> and 32nd<\/sup> \u2013 July 2nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 24th<\/sup> Avenue between Washington and Nob Hill \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> to July 2nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tieton between 16th<\/sup> and 32nd<\/sup> \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> to July 2nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4th<\/sup> Avenue between Tieton and D Street \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> to July 2nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 D Street between 1st<\/sup> Ave and 2nd<\/sup> Ave \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> to July 2nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3rd<\/sup> Avenue between Walnut Ave and D Street \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> to July 2nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

Detour routes will be in place so drivers can go around the closed portions of those streets.<\/p>\n

A map showing the sections of roads that will be repaved during the project is posted on the City\u2019s website at https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/apps\/streets\/resurfacing\/<\/a>. Updated travel alerts related to the resurfacing project can also be found by clicking on that link.<\/p>\n

Access to homes and businesses in the project areas will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project areas if necessary.<\/p>\n
