A citywide street repaving project that began in mid May and will continue until this fall will affect traffic in several areas of Yakima from July 7th<\/sup> through July 11th<\/sup>. The City is spending about $15 million dollars this year completing a \u201cgrind and overlay\u201d project, which involves removing old and deteriorated asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt, in order to recondition more than 90 lane miles of roadway sections in different parts of Yakima.<\/p>\n

From Monday, July 7th<\/sup> through Friday, July 11th<\/sup>, periodic lane closures will occur each day from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm on Lincoln Avenue between 24th<\/sup> Avenue and 32nd<\/sup> Avenue, on Tieton Drive between 40th<\/sup> Avenue and 48th<\/sup> Avenue, on W. MLK, Jr. Boulevard between 1st<\/sup> Avenue and Pierce Avenue, and on 6th<\/sup> Street between Yakima Avenue and H Street.<\/p>\n

The following sections of streets will be completely closed to traffic overnight from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am on different days during the week of June 30th<\/sup> to July 3rd<\/sup>:<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 40th<\/sup> Ave between Fruitvale Boulevard and Summitview Ave \u2013 July 7th<\/sup> to July 9th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lincoln between 24th<\/sup> Ave and 32nd<\/sup> Ave \u2013 July 9th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 24th<\/sup> Ave between Washington Ave and Nob Hill Boulevard \u2013 July 8th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nob Hill between 32nd<\/sup> Ave and 40th<\/sup> Ave \u2013 July 7th<\/sup> and July 8th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 16th<\/sup> Ave between Nob Hill and Englewood Ave \u2013 July 10th<\/sup> and July 11th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yakima Ave between 12th<\/sup> Ave and 16th<\/sup> Ave \u2013 July 9th<\/sup> and July 10th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 19th<\/sup> Ave between Tieton and Chestnut Ave \u2013 July 7th<\/sup> to July 10th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tieton between 40th<\/sup> Ave and 48th<\/sup> Ave \u2013 July 7th<\/sup> to July 9th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4th<\/sup> Ave between Tieton and Walnut and between Yakima Ave and D Street \u2013 July 7th<\/sup> and July 8th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5th<\/sup> Ave between Walnut and Yakima Ave \u2013 July 9th<\/sup> and July 10th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6th<\/sup> Street between Pacific Ave and H Street \u2013 July 9th<\/sup> and July 10th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Walnut between 1st<\/sup> Street and 7th<\/sup> Ave \u2013 July 9th<\/sup> and July 10th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3rd<\/sup> Ave between Walnut and D Street \u2013 July 7th<\/sup> and July 8th<\/sup><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Summitview Ave between Yakima Ave and 16th<\/sup> Ave \u2013 July 10th<\/sup> and July 11th<\/sup><\/p>\n

Detour routes will be in place so drivers can go around the closed portions of those streets.<\/p>\n

A map showing the sections of roads that will be repaved during the project is posted on the City\u2019s website at https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/apps\/streets\/resurfacing\/<\/a>. Updated travel alerts related to the resurfacing project can also be found by clicking on that link.<\/p>\n

Access to homes and businesses in the project areas will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project areas if necessary.<\/p>\n
