{"id":2247,"date":"2014-10-24T16:11:34","date_gmt":"2014-10-24T23:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=2247"},"modified":"2014-10-24T16:11:34","modified_gmt":"2014-10-24T23:11:34","slug":"citywide-road-resurfacing-project-paving-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/citywide-road-resurfacing-project-paving-completed\/","title":{"rendered":"Citywide Road Resurfacing Project Paving Completed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An ambitious citywide street repaving project that began in May has reached a milestone now that all of the more than 90 lane miles of roads included in the project have been paved. All that remains for the $15 million project to be completed is work involving striping some of the last road sections that were paved, adjusting utility fixtures, finishing crosswalk placements, and wrapping up other minor finishing touches. The project was originally expected be completed by early winter and is easily on pace to do just that.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the work that remains on the project, Washington Avenue between 15<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street will be closed to all traffic from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am each day from Monday, October 27<sup>th<\/sup> through Friday, October 31<sup>st<\/sup>,<\/p>\n<p>Various sections of the following streets will experience periodic daytime lane closures during the week of October 27<sup>th<\/sup> through October 31<sup>st<\/sup>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6<sup>th<\/sup> Street between Lincoln Avenue and Pacific Avenue<\/li>\n<li>Lincoln Avenue between 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street and 10<sup>th<\/sup> Street<\/li>\n<li>MLK, Jr. Boulevard between 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street and 8<sup>th<\/sup> Street<\/li>\n<li>Walnut Street between 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street and 7<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue<\/li>\n<li>Mead Avenue between 11<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and Fair Avenue<\/li>\n<li>Washington Avenue between 15<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sections of various other streets are also likely to have short-duration lane closures during the next week as final work on the resurfacing project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a significant undertaking and the City sincerely thanks the Yakima community for its patience during the project,\u201d said Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler. \u201cThere were, no doubt, moments of inconvenience for most everyone over the last few months when they were trying to get around town.
