{"id":253,"date":"2012-08-03T13:21:27","date_gmt":"2012-08-03T20:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=253"},"modified":"2013-03-12T13:22:42","modified_gmt":"2013-03-12T20:22:42","slug":"next-phase-of-2012-yakima-citizen-survey-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/next-phase-of-2012-yakima-citizen-survey-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"Next Phase of 2012 Yakima Citizen Survey Underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Contact:<\/strong> City Manager Tony O&#8217;Rourke \u2013 575-6092<br \/>\nCommunity Relations Manager Randy Beehler \u2013 901-1142 \u2013 <a href=\"mailto:randy.beehler@yakimawa.gov\">randy.beehler@yakimawa.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Phase two of the 2012 Yakima Citizen Survey, which provides everyone in the community the opportunity to fill out an online version of the questionnaire, is underway.\u00a0 The survey is designed to gauge public opinion about City services and priorities as well as quality of life issues in Yakima.\u00a0 The survey is available on line in both English and Spanish.\u00a0 The Spanish version link is http:\/\/www.n-r-c.com\/survey\/yakimaencuesta2012.htm The link to the English version of the survey is http:\/\/www.n-r-c.com\/survey\/yakima2012survey.htm<\/p>\n<p>Links to both the English and Spanish versions of the survey are also available in the <em>Notable<\/em> section of the City website front page.<\/p>\n<p>Community members have until Friday, August 31<sup>st<\/sup> to fill out the online survey, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.<\/p>\n<p>Phase one of the 2012 Yakima Citizen Survey, which involved mailing the questionnaire to 3000 randomly-selected Yakima households, was completed July 27<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Results from that phase of the survey will be presented to the City Council later this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that as many people as possible get the chance to be part of the survey process,\u201d said City Manager Tony O\u2019Rourke.\u00a0 \u201cThat\u2019s exactly what the online survey offers \u2013 the opportunity for many voices to be heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Rourke first suggested the City conduct a citizen survey when he was interviewed for the city manager job in April.\u00a0 After being chosen by the City Council for the position, O\u2019Rourke included completing a citizen survey as a key element in meeting the needs and expectations of the City\u2019s residential and business customers.\u00a0 O\u2019Rourke plans on the City conducting surveys on an annual basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we learn from the community through this first survey will give us a benchmark to measure improvements that are made to align our services with the expectations and priorities of our customers,\u201d said O\u2019Rourke.\u00a0 \u201cRegular surveying will be extremely helpful because we\u2019ll able to track our progress as the City continues to refine its operations to best meet the needs of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2012 Yakima Citizen Survey is being conducted by National Research Center, Inc.
