After a successful debut in 2013, the series added more performers to its lineup for the 2014 season. This year\u2019s 10-show series will include no less than 30 musical acts during its run from mid-June through late-August. Each show in the series will focus on specific genres.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by Stewart Subaru and produced by the City of Yakima, Townsquare Media, and Chinook Entertainment, the free and family-friendly <em>Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> series will run every Thursday night from June 18<sup>th<\/sup> through August 20<sup>th<\/sup> on 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street behind the Capitol Theatre. All shows will begin at 5:00 pm and last until about 9:00 pm. Kids activities provided by Yakima Maker Space will take place in Yakima Community Health Kids Area and free face painting will be provided by Face Art Magic.<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 series will get underway with a Blues Rock show on the West Valley Fitness Stage June 18<sup>th<\/sup> featuring nationally-known <em>McTuff<\/em>, Seattle-based <em>Cracker Factory<\/em>, and Yakima favorite <em>Nikki J<\/em>. The June 25<sup>th<\/sup> show focus on Rock and Indie music and will feature <em>Van Eps<\/em>, an eclectic band from Seattle, <em>The Banner Days<\/em>, a collaboration between Bradford Loomis and Beth Whitney, and <em>Indigo Kidd<\/em>, a Yakima group who just released it EP entitled <em>Battle at the Fish Caf\u00e9<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On July 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, Country performers <em>Brewer\u2019s Grade <\/em>(Oregon), <em>Robbie Waldon <\/em>(Spokane), and <em>Kate Turner<\/em> (Tri-Cities) will be featured. The July 10<sup>th<\/sup> will bring Soul and Blues music to Downtown Yakima with New England-based <em>Jason Spooner<\/em>, the <em>Campbell Davis Band<\/em> from Walla Walla, and Yakima signer\/songwriter <em>Chase Craig<\/em>. Seattle trio <em>Ayron Jones &amp; The Way<\/em> will head up the July 16<sup>th<\/sup> Blues Rock show and will be joined by the up and coming <em>Daniel Kirkpatrick &amp; The Bayonettes <\/em>and Seattle Weekly\u2019s \u201c2014 Best Street Performer in the Northwest\u201d <em> Whitney Monge<\/em>. The <em>Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> show on July 23<sup>rd<\/sup> will mix Indie Folk Rock and Country music with performances by Seattle\u2019s<em> Nick Foster Band<\/em>, Yakima\u2019s own <em>The Common Deer<\/em>, and the multi-talented <em>Courtney Biggs<\/em> from Spokane. The month will be closed out with an Americana show featuring the internationally-acclaimed <em>Ian McFeron<\/em>, Leavenworth\u2019s <em>The Hoyer Brothers<\/em>, and Northwest singer\/songwriter <em>Emily Otteson<\/em> on July 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The Funk sounds of <em>Down North<\/em> (Seattle), <em>Skyler Mehal<\/em> (Seattle\/Ellensburg), and <em>Eden Moody<\/em> (Wenatchee) will fill 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street on August 6<sup>th<\/sup>. Pop Country performers <em>Aaron Crawford<\/em> (Seattle), <em>The Olson Brothers Band<\/em> (Olympia), and <em>Afton Prater<\/em> (Sequim) will be featured on August 13<sup>th<\/sup>. The series will end its 2015 run with World Music and Bluegrass show featuring instrumentalist <em>Blake Noble<\/em>, Ellensburg\u2019s <em>Uphill Both Ways<\/em>, and Yakima\u2019s own<em> These Guitars Say Sorry<\/em> on August 20<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Food vendors and a beer and wine garden will also be part of the <em>Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> events.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Downtown Summer Nights <\/em>website \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downtownsummernights.com\/\">www.downtownsummernights.com<\/a> \u2013 includes a complete list of musical performers, information about how vendors can sign up for booth space, and other news about the series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Downtown Summer Nights Concert Series has grown in each of its first two years.
