{"id":3403,"date":"2016-04-12T10:09:28","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T17:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=3403"},"modified":"2016-04-12T11:04:07","modified_gmt":"2016-04-12T18:04:07","slug":"downtown-summer-nights-features-power-lineup-4th-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/downtown-summer-nights-features-power-lineup-4th-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Downtown Summer Nights Features Power Lineup for 4th Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Downtown Summer Nights Concert Series <\/em>has grown in each of its first three years.\u00a0 Since its successful debut in 2013, the series has become an important part of the Yakima entertainment scene.\u00a0 This year\u2019s 10-show series will run from mid-June through late-August.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by Stewart Subaru and produced by the City of Yakima, Townsquare Media, and Chinook Entertainment, the free and family-friendly 2016 <em>Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> series will run every Thursday night from June 16<sup>th<\/sup> through August 18<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 All shows will begin at 6:00 pm and last until about 9:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>During its first three seasons, <em>Downtown Summer Nights Concert Series <\/em>shows took place on 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street behind the Capitol Theatre. \u00a0This year the event will move to the Historic North Front Street District due, in part, to the ongoing renovation of a building at the corner of 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street and Yakima Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Yakima\u2019s own <em>The Common Deer<\/em> will open the June 16<sup>th<\/sup> show on the Legends Casino Stage, which will be headlined by <em>Vaudeville Etiquette<\/em>, recently named one of the &#8220;Top 50 Bands Rocking the Seattle Scene&#8221;.\u00a0 <em>Sophia Tilley<\/em>, an 18-year-old singer from Yakima, will lead off the June 23<sup>rd<\/sup> show that will be headlined by <em>The Olson Bros Band<\/em>, a country music duo originally from Olympia.\u00a0 The June 30<sup>th<\/sup> performance will start with<em> Indigo Kidd<\/em>, an Indie-pop band from Yakima, and will be headlined by instrumentalist extraordinaire <em>Blake Noble<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The lineup on July 7<sup>th<\/sup> includes <em>Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer<\/em> (Seattle area) and will feature headliner <em>Polyrhythmics<\/em>, a Seattle-based band said to be \u201c\u2026redefining the term \u2018funk\u2019 for 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century audiences\u201d.\u00a0 Nashville-based <em>Slings &amp; Arrows<\/em> will open the July 14<sup>th<\/sup> show, which will be headlined by singer-songwriter <em>Robbie Walden<\/em>.\u00a0 On July 21<sup>st<\/sup>, Spokane\u2019s <em>Courtney Biggs<\/em> will reprise her 2015 <em>Downtown Summer Nights <\/em>appearance and be followed by headliners <em>Too Slim &amp; The Tail Draggers<\/em>, who last played on the <em>Downtown Summer Nights Stage<\/em> in 2013.\u00a0 <em>Crow and the Canyon<\/em> will kick off the July 28<sup>th<\/sup> show, which will be headlined by <em>Polecat<\/em>, a multi-genre band from Bellingham.<\/p>\n<p><em>Camille Bloom<\/em>, who has toured internationally, will open the August 4<sup>th<\/sup> performance that will be headlined by <em>Snug Harbor<\/em>, an 8-piece funk-soul revival band from Bellingham.\u00a0 Yakima-based <em>Avi\u00f3n<\/em>, whose performances include songs in both Spanish and English, will start the August 11<sup>th<\/sup> show that will feature headliner <em>Rafael Tranquilino<\/em>, a blues artist from Seattle.
