The Downtown Summer Nights Concert Series <\/em>has grown in each of its first three years.\u00a0 Since its successful debut in 2013, the series has become an important part of the Yakima entertainment scene.\u00a0 This year\u2019s 10-show series will run from mid-June through late-August.<\/p>\n

Sponsored by Stewart Subaru and produced by the City of Yakima, Townsquare Media, and Chinook Entertainment, the free and family-friendly 2016 Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> series will run every Thursday night from June 16th<\/sup> through August 18th<\/sup>.\u00a0 All shows will begin at 6:00 pm and last until about 9:00 pm.<\/p>\n

During its first three seasons, Downtown Summer Nights Concert Series <\/em>shows took place on 4th<\/sup> Street behind the Capitol Theatre. \u00a0This year the event will move to the Historic North Front Street District due, in part, to the ongoing renovation of a building at the corner of 4th<\/sup> Street and Yakima Avenue.<\/p>\n

Yakima\u2019s own The Common Deer<\/em> will open the June 16th<\/sup> show on the Legends Casino Stage, which will be headlined by Vaudeville Etiquette<\/em>, recently named one of the “Top 50 Bands Rocking the Seattle Scene”.\u00a0 Sophia Tilley<\/em>, an 18-year-old singer from Yakima, will lead off the June 23rd<\/sup> show that will be headlined by The Olson Bros Band<\/em>, a country music duo originally from Olympia.\u00a0 The June 30th<\/sup> performance will start with Indigo Kidd<\/em>, an Indie-pop band from Yakima, and will be headlined by instrumentalist extraordinaire Blake Noble<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The lineup on July 7th<\/sup> includes Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer<\/em> (Seattle area) and will feature headliner Polyrhythmics<\/em>, a Seattle-based band said to be \u201c\u2026redefining the term \u2018funk\u2019 for 21st<\/sup> Century audiences\u201d.\u00a0 Nashville-based Slings & Arrows<\/em> will open the July 14th<\/sup> show, which will be headlined by singer-songwriter Robbie Walden<\/em>.\u00a0 On July 21st<\/sup>, Spokane\u2019s Courtney Biggs<\/em> will reprise her 2015 Downtown Summer Nights <\/em>appearance and be followed by headliners Too Slim & The Tail Draggers<\/em>, who last played on the Downtown Summer Nights Stage<\/em> in 2013.\u00a0 Crow and the Canyon<\/em> will kick off the July 28th<\/sup> show, which will be headlined by Polecat<\/em>, a multi-genre band from Bellingham.<\/p>\n

Camille Bloom<\/em>, who has toured internationally, will open the August 4th<\/sup> performance that will be headlined by Snug Harbor<\/em>, an 8-piece funk-soul revival band from Bellingham.\u00a0 Yakima-based Avi\u00f3n<\/em>, whose performances include songs in both Spanish and English, will start the August 11th<\/sup> show that will feature headliner Rafael Tranquilino<\/em>, a blues artist from Seattle. The final show of the 2016 Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> series on August 18th<\/sup> will open with Redwood Son<\/em> and will be headlined by Yakima\u2019s own Zach Hinson<\/em>, who appeared on NBC\u2019s The Voice<\/em> in 2013.<\/p>\n

Food will be served during the shows by North Front Street merchants and mobile vendors.\u00a0 A beer and wine garden, kid\u2019s activities sponsored by Yakima Neighborhood Health, a US Cellular phone charging station, and a cooling station provided by Memorial Hospital will also be part of the Downtown Summer Nights<\/em> events.<\/p>\n
