{"id":3607,"date":"2016-06-21T16:04:09","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T23:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=3607"},"modified":"2016-06-21T16:04:09","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T23:04:09","slug":"signal-replacement-project-affect-traffic-two-intersections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/signal-replacement-project-affect-traffic-two-intersections\/","title":{"rendered":"Signal Replacement Projects to Affect Traffic at Two Intersections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Projects to upgrade traffic signals at two intersections along Lincoln Avenue in order to improve driver and pedestrian safety will affect traffic at one intersection on Wednesday, June 22<sup>nd<\/sup> and at the other intersection on Thursday, June 23<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Older 8-inch-diameter traffic signal heads at the intersections will be replaced with modern, state-of-the-art 12-inch-diameter heads.\u00a0 Signals at the 16<sup>th<\/sup> and Lincoln Avenue intersection will be turned off between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 22<sup>nd<\/sup>.\u00a0 Signals at the 5<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and Lincoln Avenue intersection will be turned off between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 23<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 Traffic at those two intersections will be directed by Yakima police officers while the work to replace the traffic signal heads is underway.<\/p>\n<p>The replacement of the traffic signals at 16<sup>th<\/sup> and Lincoln and 5<sup>th<\/sup> and Lincoln is part of a citywide traffic safety improvement project that began in 2014.\u00a0 The total cost of the safety project, including installation ADA ramps and replacement of traffic signal heads at various intersections in Yakima, is approximately $400,000 and is being completely covered by a federal grant.<\/p>\n<p>During the replacement of the traffic signals at 16<sup>th<\/sup> and Lincoln and 5<sup>th<\/sup> and Lincoln, traffic delays in the areas near the intersections are likely to occur.\u00a0 Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the projects are completed.<\/p>\n<p>As always, schedules for these types of projects are subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information about these projects, contact Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd at 575-6138.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Traffic-Signal-Replacement-Projects-News-Release.pdf\">Traffic Signal Replacement Projects &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Projects to upgrade traffic signals at two intersections along Lincoln Avenue in order to improve driver and pedestrian safety will affect traffic at one intersection on Wednesday, June 22nd and at the other intersection on Thursday, June 23rd.
