{"id":3718,"date":"2016-08-10T15:17:35","date_gmt":"2016-08-10T22:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=3718"},"modified":"2016-08-10T15:17:35","modified_gmt":"2016-08-10T22:17:35","slug":"railroad-track-crossing-repair-impact-traffic-mead-avenue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/railroad-track-crossing-repair-impact-traffic-mead-avenue\/","title":{"rendered":"Railroad Track Crossing Repair to Impact Traffic on Mead Avenue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A project to repair portions of an at-grade railroad track crossing on Mead Avenue will impact traffic from the early morning of Monday, August 15<sup>th<\/sup> until the early evening on Tuesday, August 16<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>BNSF Railway crews will be repairing a portion of its tracks that cross Mead Avenue east of Voelker Avenue and west of 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street on August 15<sup>th<\/sup> and August 16<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 As a result, Mead Avenue will be closed to through traffic between 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Avenue and 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street from 6:00 am on Monday, August 15<sup>th<\/sup> through 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 16<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Matting that allows cars to travel smoothly over the tracks has become dislodged in the inside, eastbound lane of Mead Avenue.\u00a0 As a precaution, a &#8220;Bump&#8221; sign has been placed along the eastbound lanes of Mead Avenue before the track crossing to alert drivers of the dislodged matting.\u00a0 Drivers are encouraged to not use the inside, eastbound lane of Mead Avenue to cross the BNSF Railway tracks if possible until the repair project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>Readerboards letting drivers know about the upcoming project will be placed alongside both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Mead Avenue near the BNSF Railway tracks crossing on Thursday, August 11<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Because of heavy traffic volumes in the area, drivers can expect delays in and around the project area while work on the project is underway on August 15<sup>th<\/sup> and August 16<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.\u00a0 Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information about this project, contact Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd at 575-6138.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Railroad-Track-Crossing-Repair-News-Release.pdf\">Railroad Track Crossing Repair &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A project to repair portions of an at-grade railroad track crossing on Mead Avenue will impact traffic from the early morning of Monday, August 15th until the early evening on Tuesday, August 16th.
