{"id":3887,"date":"2016-10-07T12:02:21","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T19:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=3887"},"modified":"2016-10-07T12:02:21","modified_gmt":"2016-10-07T19:02:21","slug":"2016-yakima-irrigation-season-will-end-october-14th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/2016-yakima-irrigation-season-will-end-october-14th\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Yakima Irrigation Season Will End on October 14th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, October 14<sup>th<\/sup> marks the end of another irrigation season for the vast majority of the residential and business customers served by the City of Yakima\u2019s irrigation system.\u00a0 That\u2019s the day that the system operated by the City\u2019s Water\/Irrigation Division will be shut off until next spring.<\/p>\n<p>The few other irrigation systems in the area that operate independently from City systems will also be shutting down over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a good idea for people to spend some time now preparing for the shutdown,\u201d said Water\/Irrigation Manager Dave Brown.\u00a0 \u201cIf they need to do some final watering, they should get that done this weekend.\u00a0 People should also go through the process of winterizing their own irrigation systems after the water stops flowing on October 14<sup>th<\/sup>,\u201d said Brown.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Yakima has operated irrigation systems since the early 1900s.\u00a0 The system that now exists to deliver water to customers in Yakima actually consists of 66 individual, smaller systems that were consolidated almost 20 years ago into a single utility.\u00a0 Through that utility, the City currently provides water to about 11,000 customers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/End-of-2016-Irrigation-Season-News-Release.pdf\">End of 2016 Irrigation Season &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, October 14th marks the end of another irrigation season for the vast majority of the residential and business customers served by the City of Yakima\u2019s irrigation system.\u00a0 That\u2019s the day that the system operated by the City\u2019s Water\/Irrigation Division will be shut off until next spring.
