{"id":4002,"date":"2016-11-30T11:31:25","date_gmt":"2016-11-30T19:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=4002"},"modified":"2016-11-30T11:33:10","modified_gmt":"2016-11-30T19:33:10","slug":"big-improvements-completed-rosalma-park-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/big-improvements-completed-rosalma-park-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Improvements Completed at Rosalma Park in Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rosalma Garden Club Park, located near the southeast corner of the intersection of<br \/>\n16th Avenue and Tieton Drive, has a new look thanks to the generosity of a local developer and a building contractor.<\/p>\n<p>Hogback Development and Stephens and Sons Construction teamed up to upgrade the appearance of the neighborhood park.<\/p>\n<p>Work began in late October after the community partners approached the City of Yakima offering to donate labor and materials for the project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a wonderful example of making Yakima a better place to live,&#8221; said Yakima Parks &amp; Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. \u201cIt is another great display of a public-private partnership to improve the quality of parks in the City of Yakima.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The project took a small patch of ground, left behind by the removal of Yakima Valley Trolley tracks, and transformed it into a landscaping showcase with the installation of new trees, ground cover, basalt rocks and gravel.<\/p>\n<p>The addition of concrete pathway pavers and benches, along with other enhancements, has once again turned the small park into an attractive area for visitors and for those waiting for a bus at a nearby Yakima Transit stop on Tieton Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Russell Landscaping performed the installation work and Western Building Materials donated the paver bricks.<\/p>\n<p>Yakima Parks &amp; Recreation crews assisted by preparing the site for the landscaping improvements, and plan to install a drip irrigation system next spring.<\/p>\n<p>The value of the improvements at Rosalma Garden Club Park is estimated at $20,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Rosalma-Garden-Club-Park-News-Release-1.pdf\">rosalma-garden-club-park-news-release<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rosalma Garden Club Park, located near the southeast corner of the intersection of 16th Avenue and Tieton Drive, has a new look thanks to the generosity of a local developer and a building contractor.
