{"id":4185,"date":"2017-02-13T14:27:39","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T22:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=4185"},"modified":"2017-02-13T14:27:39","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T22:27:39","slug":"trucks-prohibited-66th-prospect-way-cowiche-canyon-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/trucks-prohibited-66th-prospect-way-cowiche-canyon-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Trucks Prohibited on 66th, Prospect Way and Cowiche Canyon Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Commercial truck traffic is prohibited until further notice on a section of 66<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue as well as on Prospect Way and Cowiche Canyon Road due to damage to the roadway.\u00a0 Signs indicating the heavy truck traffic restriction are in place now and will remain in place until the restriction is lifted.<\/p>\n<p>The section of 66<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue between Englewood Avenue and Scenic Drive has suffered significant damage due to winter weather, which cannot be repaired until Yakima area asphalt plants reopen in the spring.\u00a0 Until then, heavy trucks will not be allowed on that portion of 66<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue nor on Prospect Way (which connects with 66<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to the north) or Cowiche Canyon Road (which connects with Prospect Way).<\/p>\n<p>Neither Prospect Way nor Cowiche Canyon Road have suffered severe road damage, but vehicles traveling south on Cowiche Canyon Road from Powerhouse Road would likely eventually use Prospect Way to connect with 66<sup>th <\/sup>Avenue and encounter the damaged portion of 66<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Vehicles heading north on 66<sup>th<\/sup> past Scenic Drive are likely to use Prospect Way and Cowiche Canyon Road to connect with Powerhouse Road.<\/p>\n<p>Once asphalt plants are reopened, necessary repairs will be made to the section of 66<sup>th<\/sup> between Englewood and Scenic Drive and the heavy truck restriction will likely be lifted.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information about this temporary traffic restriction on portions of 66<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue, Prospect Way, and Cowiche Canyon Road, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Truck-Traffic-Restriction-News-Release.pdf\">Truck Traffic Restriction &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commercial truck traffic is prohibited until further notice on a section of 66th Avenue as well as on Prospect Way and Cowiche Canyon Road due to damage to the roadway.\u00a0 Signs indicating the heavy truck traffic restriction are in place now and will remain in place until the restriction is lifted.
