{"id":4228,"date":"2017-02-28T15:29:06","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T23:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=4228"},"modified":"2017-02-28T15:29:06","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T23:29:06","slug":"yard-waste-collection-start-date-delayed-april-3rd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yard-waste-collection-start-date-delayed-april-3rd\/","title":{"rendered":"Yard Waste Collection Start Date Delayed Until April 3rd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yard waste collection in the City of Yakima will begin about a month later than usual due the effects of a long winter season that has featured more snow, ice, and cold temperatures than normal.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, yard waste collection starts on March 1<sup>st<\/sup>.\u00a0 This year, however, City Refuse Division crews won&#8217;t begin picking up yard waste until Monday, April 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The winter weather has delayed maintenance work that we need to complete on our trucks in order to prepare for yard waste collection,&#8221; said Solid Waste and Recycling Manager Loretta Zammarchi.\u00a0 &#8220;A longer-than-normal winter is also delaying the need for yard waste collection.\u00a0 Hopefully customers will experience little if any inconvenience as a result of the April 3<sup>rd<\/sup> start date,&#8221; said Zammarchi.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the delayed start date, customers who subscribe to the City&#8217;s yard waste service will not be charged a fee for March.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the delayed start of yard waste collection this year, contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 575-6005.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Yard-Waste-Collection-Start-Date-Delayed-News-Release.pdf\">Yard Waste Collection Start Date Delayed &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yard waste collection in the City of Yakima will begin about a month later than usual due the effects of a long winter season that has featured more snow, ice, and cold temperatures than normal.
