{"id":4337,"date":"2017-04-28T15:57:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T22:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=4337"},"modified":"2017-05-01T09:35:13","modified_gmt":"2017-05-01T16:35:13","slug":"may-1st-march-immigrants-taking-place-downtown-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/may-1st-march-immigrants-taking-place-downtown-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"May 1st &#8220;March for Immigrants&#8221; Taking Place in Downtown Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8220;March for Immigrants&#8221;, which will take place on Monday, May 1<sup>st<\/sup> and which begin and end at Miller Park (502 N. 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street), will include several stops at locations in downtown Yakima.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in participating in the event are encouraged to begin gathering at Miller Park at about noon on Monday, May 1<sup>st<\/sup>.\u00a0 Following a presentation by several speakers that is expected to last about 30 minutes, the march will head south on 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Street and proceed along the following route:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Turn left at the intersection of 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Street and Yakima Avenue (heading east)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pause and chant (for approximately 10 minutes) at The Tower (402 E. Yakima<\/p>\n<p>Avenue), home to 4<sup>th<\/sup> District U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse&#8217;s office<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Continue heading east on Yakima Avenue<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Turn right on Naches Avenue (heading south)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Turn right on Chestnut Avenue (heading west)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pause for speeches (for approximately 15 minutes) at the William O. Douglas Federal<\/p>\n<p>Building (25 S. 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Street)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Head west on Chestnut Avenue<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Turn right at 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street (heading north)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pause and chant (for approximately 10) at the Yakima County Courthouse (128 N. 2<sup>nd <\/sup>Street)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Head north on 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Turn right on F Street (heading east)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; End at Miller Park<\/p>\n<p>A Yakima Police Department rolling escort will accompany the march in order to provide traffic control.\u00a0 Yakima Transit service may experience some delays while the march is underway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/May-1st-March-for-Immigrants-News-Release-1.pdf\">May 1st March for Immigrants &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8220;March for Immigrants&#8221;, which will take place on Monday, May 1st and which begin and end at Miller Park (502 N. 4th Street), will include several stops at locations in downtown Yakima.
