{"id":4632,"date":"2017-08-10T10:09:40","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T17:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=4632"},"modified":"2017-08-10T10:40:04","modified_gmt":"2017-08-10T17:40:04","slug":"yakima-city-council-continue-discussion-homeless-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-city-council-continue-discussion-homeless-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima City Council to Continue Discussion of Homeless Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Yakima City Council will continue its discussion on the issue of homelessness during a study session on Monday, August 14<sup>th <\/sup>at 10:00 am in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 129 North 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The discussion is the result of an update on Camp Hope the Council received during its July 18<sup>th<\/sup> business meeting. The camp is a temporary homeless shelter located on City-owned property near the wastewater treatment plant. The City is leasing one acre to Transform Yakima Together, a non-profit that is coordinating the operation of Camp Hope.<\/p>\n<p>During the update, Transform Yakima Together Director Andy Ferguson noted the camp had served 240 individuals and more than 12,000 meals since it opened in March. The camp is scheduled to close November 15<sup>th<\/sup>.
