{"id":4856,"date":"2017-09-21T16:32:56","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T23:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=4856"},"modified":"2017-09-21T16:32:56","modified_gmt":"2017-09-21T23:32:56","slug":"sunfair-parade-kicks-off-fair-season-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/sunfair-parade-kicks-off-fair-season-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunfair Parade Kicks Off Fair Season in Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the 56<sup>th<\/sup> year in a row, the Yakima Sunfair Parade will follow its familiar route of more than one-and-a-half miles through Downtown Yakima on Saturday, September 23<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 The parade is expected to include more than 500 participants as it makes its way down Yakima Avenue from 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to Naches Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The 2017 Yakima Sunfair Parade will begin at 10:00 am and is expected to last for about three hours.\u00a0 This year\u2019s grand marshal is Bob Hall, retired car dealer and longtime community supporter.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning at 8:00 am on Saturday, no parking will be allowed on Yakima Avenue between 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and Naches Avenue.\u00a0 Side streets along the parade route will also be closed to through traffic while the parade is underway.\u00a0 As the last entries in the parade pass by the closed side streets, they will be reopened to traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Entries in the 2017 Yakima Sunfair Parade will be staged along 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue between Summitview Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard.\u00a0 That section of 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue will be closed to all traffic, as will side streets that intersect 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue, from 6:00 am until parade entries make their way onto the parade route.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the parade, Yakima Transit will not start bus service on any routes on Saturday until 12:45 pm.\u00a0 Special shuttles to State Fair Park will run as scheduled while the parade is underway.<\/p>\n<p>The annual Yakima Sunfair Parade is coordinated by the Yakima Sunfair Festival Association.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/2017-Yakima-Sunfair-Parade-News-Release.pdf\">2017 Yakima Sunfair Parade &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the 56th year in a row, the Yakima Sunfair Parade will follow its familiar route of more than one-and-a-half miles through Downtown Yakima on Saturday, September 23rd.\u00a0 The parade is expected to include more than 500 participants as it makes its way down Yakima Avenue from 16th Avenue to Naches Avenue.
