{"id":5032,"date":"2017-10-23T10:07:32","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T17:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5032"},"modified":"2017-10-23T10:07:32","modified_gmt":"2017-10-23T17:07:32","slug":"parks-recreation-planning-halloween-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/parks-recreation-planning-halloween-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Parks and Recreation Planning Halloween Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Yakima&#8217;s Parks and Recreation Department is planning activities for the approaching Halloween season.<\/p>\n<p>First up is the City&#8217;s Harman Center, which is adding a new feature to its annual Halloween Dance from 6:00 pm to 10 pm on Friday, October 27<sup>th<\/sup>. For the first time, a Halloween costume contest will be held in conjunction with the dance in the Harman Center ballroom.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will be family friendly, so bring the grandkids,&#8221; said Recreation Program Supervisor Leslie Richards. &#8220;Local businesses have donated prizes for the costume contest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A DJ will also be on hand and refreshments will be provided. The cost is $3 per person or $4 per couple for the dance\/costume contest.<\/p>\n<p>Then on Sunday night, October 29<sup>th<\/sup>, the Parks and Recreation Department will offer its annual Halloween Egg Hunt for children ages 10 and younger. Toddlers up to 3 years old will begin their hunt for candy-filled eggs at 5:30 pm on October 29<sup>th<\/sup> and children ages 4-10 will begin at 6:15 pm at the City&#8217;s Franklin Park.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-registration is required and on-site registrations will not be permitted, said Recreation Supervisor Tami Andringa. &#8220;We are accepting registrations until Thursday, October 26<sup>th<\/sup>, if space is available,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Each child will receive a bag for their eggs and Halloween treats. The cost is $5 per child for those residing in the city limits.
