{"id":518,"date":"2013-04-19T16:17:59","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T23:17:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=518"},"modified":"2014-04-16T11:38:50","modified_gmt":"2014-04-16T18:38:50","slug":"closure-of-sections-of-16th-ave-and-j-street-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/closure-of-sections-of-16th-ave-and-j-street-extended\/","title":{"rendered":"Closure of Sections of 16th Ave and J Street Extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Temporary closures of a section of 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue that began Sunday, April 14<sup>th<\/sup> will continue through Wednesday, April 24<sup>th<\/sup> as a result of an ongoing wastewater line installation project.\u00a0 The closures, which are taking place overnight from 7:00 pm until 6:00 am, affect the section of 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue between Fruitvale Boulevard and River Road.<\/p>\n<p>During daylight hours, one lane in each direction of 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue is being opened to traffic.\u00a0 Drivers are being directed through the construction zone and to available detour routes.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic on J Street will also continue to be impacted through April 24<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Between 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and 8<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue, J Street is open to local traffic only.\u00a0 The entrance to the DSHS office from J \u00a0 Street will continue to be closed at times.\u00a0 Access to the DSHS building from 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue will be provided throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>Crews from TTC Construction, a Yakima-based contracting firm, have been working to install the 12-inch diameter line since earlier this year.\u00a0 The latest phase of the project includes a deep trench operation for the installation of the pipeline crossing 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue south of Madison Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The traffic disruptions resulting from the latest phase of the project were originally expected to end Friday, April 19<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 However, unforeseen circumstances slowed progress on the project, resulting in the extension of the nighttime closures of 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and the occasional closures of J \u00a0 Street through Wednesday, April 24<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.\u00a0 Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information regarding this project, contact Utility Engineer Shelley Willson at \u00a0\u00a0576-6303.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">&#8211; end &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Utility Engineer Shelley Willson \u2013 576-6303<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler \u2013 901-1142<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Wastewater-Line-Installation-News-Release1.pdf\">Wastewater Line Installation &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Temporary closures of a section of 16th Avenue that began Sunday, April 14th will continue through Wednesday, April 24th as a result of an ongoing wastewater line installation project.\u00a0 The closures, which are taking place overnight from 7:00 pm until 6:00 am, affect the section of 16th Avenue between Fruitvale Boulevard and River Road.
