{"id":5185,"date":"2017-11-27T09:59:50","date_gmt":"2017-11-27T17:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5185"},"modified":"2017-11-27T09:59:50","modified_gmt":"2017-11-27T17:59:50","slug":"yakima-transit-providing-free-shuttle-bus-service-luminaria-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-transit-providing-free-shuttle-bus-service-luminaria-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Transit Providing Free Shuttle Bus Service to Luminaria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yakima Transit will provide free shuttle bus service to the Yakima Area Arboretum&#8217;s 2017 Luminaria Candle-Lit Walk event on Friday, December 8<sup>th<\/sup> and Saturday, December 9<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Shuttle buses will run continuously from the parking lot of the former K-Mart store, located south of Highway 24.\u00a0 The Arboretum is located north of Highway 24, just across the road from the former K-Mart parking lot.\u00a0 Shuttle buses will load passengers in the parking lot and take them directly to the Arboretum&#8217;s Jewett Interpretive Center.<\/p>\n<p>Yakima Transit shuttles will run from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm on both December 8<sup>th<\/sup> and 9<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The Luminaria Walk event on those days will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No vehicle traffic will be allowed on the Arboretum&#8217;s grounds this year,&#8221; said Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey.\u00a0 &#8220;By not allowing traffic on the grounds, congestion will be relieved and safety will be improved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Arboretum&#8217;s annual Luminaria Walk has become a signature event for the organization.\u00a0 People who attend will be able to walk through the Arboretum&#8217;s landscape guided by the light of over 1,000 candles.\u00a0 The Arboretum&#8217;s Carillon Bells will accompany walkers as they stroll through the grounds.
