{"id":5439,"date":"2018-02-05T13:22:34","date_gmt":"2018-02-05T21:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5439"},"modified":"2018-02-05T13:22:34","modified_gmt":"2018-02-05T21:22:34","slug":"crack-sealing-project-impact-traffic-fruitvale-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/crack-sealing-project-impact-traffic-fruitvale-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Crack Sealing Project to Impact Traffic on Fruitvale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A project involving &#8220;crack sealing&#8221; will impact traffic along a portion of Fruitvale Boulevard from Tuesday, February 6<sup>th<\/sup> through Friday, February 9<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>City of Yakima crews will be filing cracks along the section of Fruitvale from 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to 24<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue from February 6<sup>th<\/sup> through February 9<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Work on the project will take place from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm each day.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic restrictions will be in place while the project is underway.\u00a0 Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction in the immediate area where work is being done at any given time.\u00a0 In other words, traffic restrictions (one lane in each direction) will &#8220;float&#8221; as the project moves east and west throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>Crack sealing is one of the most inexpensive forms of road maintenance and is an effective method of preventing water from penetrating the roadbed and causing further damage including, most notably, potholes.\u00a0 Cracks caused by fatigue, changes in temperature, regular traffic use, etc. are first cleaned using pressurized air.\u00a0 Cracks are then filled with an asphalt emulsion, thereby preserving not only the roadbed, but the pavement adjacent to the cracks.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.<\/p>\n<p>During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.\u00a0 Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.<\/p>\n<p>As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Fruitvale-Crack-Sealing-Project-News-Release-1.pdf\">Fruitvale Crack Sealing Project &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A project involving &#8220;crack sealing&#8221; will impact traffic along a portion of Fruitvale Boulevard from Tuesday, February 6th through Friday, February 9th.
