{"id":5454,"date":"2018-02-09T09:32:08","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T17:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5454"},"modified":"2018-02-09T09:32:08","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T17:32:08","slug":"st-patricks-day-iron-chef-dance-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/st-patricks-day-iron-chef-dance-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Patrick&#8217;s Day Iron Chef &amp; Dance to Debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Entries are now being sought for the first-ever St. Patrick&#8217;s Day Iron Chef at the City of Yakima&#8217;s Harman Center.<\/p>\n<p>The free Iron Chef &amp; Dance event will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a brand new idea for us,&#8221; said Recreation Program Supervisor Leslie Richards. &#8220;We wanted to have an Iron Chef competition and St. Patrick&#8217;s Day provided us an opportunity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Iron Chef competitors will be asked to provide samples of an Irish cuisine item, Richards said. Guinness Beer must be one of the ingredients in their prepared food entries.<\/p>\n<p>Would-be &#8220;iron chefs&#8221; have until Thursday, March 1<sup>st<\/sup>, to sign up for the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The dance and Iron Chef competition will both be held during the same 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. timeframe on March 16th. &#8220;Those who attend the dance are invited to get a taste of each Irish food entry and vote for their favorite,&#8221; Richards said.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will receive a gift card and a St Patrick&#8217;s Day Iron Chef trophy.<\/p>\n<p>Entertainer Gary Malner will provide Irish, Polka and rock &amp; roll music during the event.<\/p>\n<p>Besides dancing and taste-testing Irish cuisine, those attending the St. Patrick&#8217;s Day Iron Chef &amp; Dance are invited to purchase tickets for a raffle that will be held during the event. Local businesses have donated prizes for raffle winners.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re hoping it will be a ton of fun,&#8221; Richards said.<\/p>\n<p>The Harman Center is located at 101 North 65<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue.
