A proposed new bus route will be the focus of three public meetings Yakima Transit is planning this month.<\/p>\n
The meetings to discuss a new proposed Route 8 will be Tuesday, March 6th<\/sup>, at 5:30 pm, as well as Tuesday, March 20th<\/sup> at 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm. All of the meetings will be held in the Public Works Department\u2019s large training room, 2301 Fruitvale Boulevard.<\/p>\n The proposed new Route 8 would include those areas within the City of Yakima previously served by Route 10. That route also served the City of Selah, which is pursuing other options for transit service.<\/p>\n “We’ll incorporate those areas of Yakima that were in Route 10 and add other areas of the City of Yakima we currently don’t serve,” Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey said of the proposed Route 8. “It will be a 35-minute route instead of 1 hour, so it will be more efficient.”<\/p>\n For more information and schedules on Yakima Transit routes visit www.yakimatransit.org<\/a> or call 575-6175.<\/p>\n
