The January 2018 figure is down from the 8.2 percent unemployment rate in January 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Yakima&#8217;s previous low rate for January was 7.8 percent, reached in 2007 and 2008.<\/p>\n<p>And today&#8217;s update also shows the City of Yakima&#8217;s average unemployment rate for 2017 was just 5.9 percent. That figure is also a record low for Yakima.
