{"id":5794,"date":"2018-04-30T09:45:19","date_gmt":"2018-04-30T16:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5794"},"modified":"2018-04-30T09:52:22","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T16:52:22","slug":"may-1st-keep-families-together-march-taking-place-in-downtown-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/may-1st-keep-families-together-march-taking-place-in-downtown-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"May 1st &#8220;Keep Families Together March&#8221; Taking Place in Downtown Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The &#8220;Keep Families Together March&#8221; on Tuesday, May 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup> will begin and end at Miller Park (502 N. 4<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> Street).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Those interested in participating in the event are encouraged to begin gathering at Miller Park at about 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup>.\u00a0 The march will begin at 12:00 pm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The march will head south on 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street and proceed along the following route:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"> Turn left at the intersection of 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street and Yakima Avenue (heading east)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Turn right on South Naches Avenue (heading south)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Turn right on East Chestnut Avenue (heading west)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Turn right at North 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup> Street (heading north)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Turn right on East F Street (heading east)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">End at Miller Park <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Three stops are planned in Downtown Yakima along the route: The Tower Building (402 E. Yakima Avenue), the William O. Douglas Federal Building (25 S. 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street), and the Yakima County Courthouse (128 N. 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup> Street).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The march is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">The event will have rolling road closures provided by the City of Yakima Police Department. Officers will be in front and behind march participants as they walk along the route. Officers will also stop traffic at intersections as participants pass those locations. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">Motorists are advised to avoid the area of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The City&#8217;s Parks Department will ensure Miller Park is opened and set as the assembly point.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Additional support will be provided by the City&#8217;s Streets, Transit, Code Enforcement, Fire, Public Works, and I.T. departments.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/May-1st-March-News-Release.pdf\">May 1st March &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8220;Keep Families Together March&#8221; on Tuesday, May 1st will begin and end at Miller Park (502 N. 4th Street).
