{"id":5803,"date":"2018-05-02T10:23:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-02T17:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5803"},"modified":"2018-05-02T10:25:05","modified_gmt":"2018-05-02T17:25:05","slug":"yakima-cinco-de-mayo-cultural-festival-is-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-cinco-de-mayo-cultural-festival-is-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Cinco de Mayo Cultural Festival is This Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Cinco de Mayo Cultural Festival, one of Downtown Yakima\u2019s signature events, consistently drawing 20,000 or more visitors, will mark its 17<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> anniversary during a two-day run this Saturday and Sunday, May 5<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> and 6<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The free, family-friendly 2018 Cinco de Mayo Cultural Festival will begin welcoming visitors with a Color Guard Ceremony at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 5<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>.\u00a0 The event will run until 9:00 pm on May 5<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>.\u00a0 The festival grounds will be open on Sunday, May 6<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> from 10:00 am until 7:15 pm. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Booths featuring delicious food, fun kids activities, one-of-a-kind handmade crafts, and more will fill the festival grounds; which will include Yakima Avenue between 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup> Street and 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street, 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup> Street from about a half-block north of Yakima Avenue to Chestnut Avenue, Chestnut Avenue between 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup> Street and 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street, and 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street between Chestnut Avenue and Yakima Avenue.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The festival grounds will be closed to motorized vehicles.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The festival\u2019s main stage, located near the corner of Second Street and Yakima Avenue, will feature a wide variety of activities and performances including dancers, musicians, and various elements of the 2018 Ms. Cinco de Mayo Pageant.\u00a0 The culmination of the pageant will be the crowning of the 2018 Ms. Cinco de Mayo, which will take place on the main stage at 1:00 pm on Sunday.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Yakima Avenue between 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup> Street and 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup> Street will feature soccer and street basketball tournaments, as well as a horse show during the 2-day festival.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Charro Parade will take place Sunday at 1:00 pm, starting at the corner of 5th Avenue and Yakima Avenue and heading east. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Sunday\u2019s activities will also include a car show from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the parking lot on 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup> Street and 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup> Street between Chestnut Avenue and Yakima Avenue. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">To see a complete schedule for the 2018 Cinco de Mayo Cultural Festival taking place in Downtown Yakima on May 5<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> and 6<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>, visit the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce website at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimahispanicchamber.com\/cinco-de-mayo\">https:\/\/www.yakimahispanicchamber.com\/cinco-de-mayo<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Cinco-de-Mayo-Cultural-Festival-News-Release.pdf\">Cinco de Mayo Cultural Festival &#8211;
