{"id":5826,"date":"2018-05-10T14:08:51","date_gmt":"2018-05-10T21:08:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=5826"},"modified":"2018-05-10T14:22:36","modified_gmt":"2018-05-10T21:22:36","slug":"pump-replacement-results-in-temporary-closure-of-lions-pool-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/pump-replacement-results-in-temporary-closure-of-lions-pool-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Pump Repair Results in Temporary Closure of Lions Pool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lions Pool, the City of Yakima\u2019s indoor aquatics facility, has been closed temporarily while an emergency repair is being conducted on the pool&#8217;s main recirculation pump.\u00a0 The repair will be completed as quickly as possible.\u00a0 However it is not known at this point exactly how long it will take to finish the work.<\/p>\n<p>Once the project is finished and the pool is ready to be reopened, the City will provide notice utilizing its various communications platforms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe certainly apologize to the loyal users of Lions Pool that the facility will have to be closed while the pump is repaired,\u201d said Parks &amp; Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson.\u00a0 \u201cThe pump has simply worn out.\u00a0 The recirculation pump is a critical piece of the system that keeps Lions Pool operating.\u00a0 The work is being done as fast as it can be, and Lions Pool will be back in business soon,\u201d said Wilkinson.<\/p>\n<p>Lions Pool is the most heavily used of the City\u2019s two public pools (the other being Franklin Pool).\u00a0 The facility is used for recreation, swimming and diving competitions, therapeutic purposes, etc.\u00a0 It is open year \u2018round, with the exception of periodic closures for maintenance or other repair projects.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Lions-Pool-Pump-Repair-News-Release.pdf\">Lions Pool Pump Repair &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lions Pool, the City of Yakima\u2019s indoor aquatics facility, has been closed temporarily while an emergency repair is being conducted on the pool&#8217;s main recirculation pump.\u00a0 The repair will be completed as quickly as possible.\u00a0 However it is not known at this point exactly how long it will take to finish the work.
