The City of Yakima is committed to keeping citizens informed and seeking public input prior to city council action.<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: black;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">The first session is 9:00 am on Tuesday, October 9<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>. The other three sessions, all scheduled for 5:00 pm, will be Thursday, October 11<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>; Wednesday, October 17<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>; and Thursday, October 18<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">No action will be taken by the City Council during the four sessions, which will provide input in preparation for three public hearings related to the 2019 budget.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The first budget-related hearing is Tuesday, November 6<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>, and pertains to the Ad Valorem (Property) Tax to be levied for collection in 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Two public hearings will then be held for the 2019 Preliminary Budget for the City of Yakima. Those hearings are Tuesday, November 13<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>, and Tuesday, December 4<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">All three hearings will be at 6:30 pm during the City Council&#8217;s regular meetings on those respective nights. The Council&#8217;s meetings start at 6:00 pm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">All of the meetings will be in <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">Council Chambers at Yakima City Hall, 129 North 2nd Street.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">It is anticipated the City Council will adopt the budget on Tuesday, Dec. 11<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The City Council&#8217;s budget study sessions and budget-related public hearings will air live on the Yakima Public Affairs Channel (Y-PAC), Charter Cable Channel 194, and be streamed live on the City of Yakima website &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/council\/live-stream\/\">https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/council\/live-stream\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Budget-Study-Sessions-Hearings-News-Release.pdf\">Budget Study Sessions, Hearings &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Yakima City Council will conduct four study sessions over the next two weeks to begin discussions for the 2019 budget.
