{"id":6487,"date":"2018-10-24T15:57:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T22:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=6487"},"modified":"2018-10-24T15:57:24","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T22:57:24","slug":"car-motorcycle-accident-leaves-yakima-man-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/car-motorcycle-accident-leaves-yakima-man-injured\/","title":{"rendered":"Car-Motorcycle Accident Leaves Yakima Man Injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old Yakima man was injured late in the evening on Tuesday, October 23<sup>rd<\/sup> when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Sampson was riding his motorcycle in a westbound lane of Lincoln Avenue when Yakima Police Department (&#8220;YPD&#8221;) officers suspect he ran a red light.\u00a0 At approximately 11:52 pm, Sampson&#8217;s motorcycle collided with a car that was heading westbound on 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Avenue.\u00a0 YPD officers also suspect Sampson may have been speeding at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>Sampson was initially taken to a local hospital but was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of a serious leg injury and possible broken arm.\u00a0 Information about Sampson&#8217;s current condition is not available.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the car that was hit by Sampson&#8217;s motorcycle was not injured in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>A search warrant was obtained and blood samples were taken from Sampson based on the suspicion of police that Sampson may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>Additional details regarding this accident may be provided if they become available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Car-Motorcycle-Collision-News-Release-1.pdf\">Car-Motorcycle Collision &#8211; News Release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old Yakima man was injured late in the evening on Tuesday, October 23rd when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 3rd Avenue.
