{"id":6548,"date":"2018-11-06T09:40:03","date_gmt":"2018-11-06T17:40:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=6548"},"modified":"2018-11-06T09:44:55","modified_gmt":"2018-11-06T17:44:55","slug":"community-christmas-tree-sought-for-downtown-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/community-christmas-tree-sought-for-downtown-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Christmas Tree Sought for Downtown Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">The search is on for Yakima&#8217;s Community Christmas Tree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">The City of Yakima and the Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) are asking area residents to consider donating a tree from their property for the annual holiday festivities in Downtown Yakima.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">To nominate your tree as the Community Christmas Tree, call Cally Price, the Assistant to the City Manager, at 575-6040.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">&#8220;It&#8217;s an exciting opportunity for someone to make a prominent contribution to the holiday season in Downtown Yakima,&#8221; said Mayor Kathy Coffey. &#8220;I appreciate those willing to have their trees considered for such an important honor.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">Crews will arrive to remove the tree by Monday, November 19<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>, and it will be installed at Millennium Plaza. T<\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">he official tree lighting ceremony will be Sunday, December 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup>, at the conclusion of Downtown Yakima&#8217;s annual Holiday Lighted Parade.
