{"id":6654,"date":"2018-11-28T10:16:03","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T18:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=6654"},"modified":"2018-11-28T10:16:03","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T18:16:03","slug":"yakima-transit-providing-free-shuttle-service-to-luminaria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-transit-providing-free-shuttle-service-to-luminaria\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Transit Providing Free Shuttle Service to Luminaria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Yakima Transit will provide free shuttle bus service to the Yakima Area Arboretum&#8217;s 2018 Luminaria Candle-Lit Walk event on Friday, December 7<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> and Saturday, December 8<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Shuttle buses will run continuously from the parking lot of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: windowtext;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\">the current U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer <\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">(formerly the K-Mart store parking lot), located south of Highway 24.\u00a0 The Arboretum is located north of Highway 24, just across the road from the U-Haul parking lot.\u00a0 Shuttle buses will load passengers in the parking lot and take them directly to the Arboretum&#8217;s Jewett Interpretive Center.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Yakima Transit shuttles will run from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm on both December 7<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup> and 8<sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">th<\/span><\/sup>.\u00a0 The Luminaria Walk event on those days will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#8220;No vehicle traffic will be allowed on the Arboretum&#8217;s grounds this year,&#8221; said Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey.\u00a0 &#8220;By not allowing traffic on the grounds, congestion will be relieved and safety will be improved.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Arboretum&#8217;s annual Luminaria Walk has become a signature event for the organization. It features a loop trail through the Arboretum&#8217;s landscape lit by the light of more than 1,000 candles.\u00a0 While walking the trail, visitors will enjoy listening to music from the Arboretum\u2019s Carillon Bell Tower and see groves of trees strung\u00a0with thousands of twinkling lights.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-weight: normal\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Inside the Jewett Interpretative Center, Starbuck&#8217;s coffee and Tree Top apple cider will be served. Live music will be performed by a variety of local artists in the Center.
