A media event at 3:30 pm tomorrow, Friday, November 30th<\/span><\/sup>, will mark the transfer of a fire engine from the Yakima Fire Department to Morelia, Mexico. It will be held at Yakima Fire Station No. 95, 807 E. Nob Hill Boulevard.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Yakima-Morelia Sister City Association (Y-MSCA) purchased the retired fire engine from the City of Yakima earlier this year. The association will have it transported to Morelia next week.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“I think this is a great opportunity to have these partners who help support emergency services in our sister city of Morelia,” said Yakima Fire Chief Aaron Markham.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Officials from the City of Yakima, City of Morelia, and Y-MSCA will be on hand for tomorrow’s event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yakima and Morelia’s sister city relationship dates back to May 1999, when the Yakima City Council passed a resolution that established Yakima and Morelia as sister cities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The mission of the Y-MSCA, a non-profit organization, is to promote mutual understanding and the sharing of cultural diversity among citizens in the communities of Yakima and Morelia, which is the capital for the state of Michoac\u00e1n in central Mexico.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
