{"id":6890,"date":"2019-01-29T11:40:31","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T19:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=6890"},"modified":"2019-01-29T12:17:39","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T20:17:39","slug":"city-of-yakima-seeks-community-input-for-police-chief-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-of-yakima-seeks-community-input-for-police-chief-search\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Yakima Seeks Community Input for Police Chief Search"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The City of Yakima is asking\ncommunity members to provide input regarding the recruitment of the next Yakima\npolice chief during two upcoming forums.&nbsp;\nThe City and Public Sector Search &amp; Consulting, the recruiting firm\nhired by the City to conduct a search for the next police chief, will host two\ncommunity forums in early February that will give people in Yakima an\nopportunity to share their thoughts about the characteristics and professional\nexperience that are most important for the next Yakima police chief to have.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community\nforums about the police chief recruitment will take place on the following\ndates at the following locations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Wednesday, February 6<sup>th<\/sup>, beginning\nat 6:00 pm at the Henry Beauchamp Community Center (1211 S. 7<sup>th<\/sup>\nStreet)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Thursday, February 7<sup>th<\/sup>,\nbeginning at 6:00 pm at the Harman Senior Center (101 N. 65<sup>th<\/sup>\nAvenue)<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All members of the public are welcome to attend one or both forums.  English to Spanish interpretation services will be provided at both forums. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone with questions about the forums is encouraged to contact City of Yakima Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler by phone at 509-901-1142 or by email at randy.beehler@yakimawa.gov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The next police chief must be able to lead the department as well as collaborate with the community to make thoughtful and comprehensive operational and organizational enhancements,\u201d said City Manager Cliff Moore. &nbsp;\u201cInput from neighborhoods and community members will be critical in helping me select the right person to become the next Yakima police chief. &nbsp;I encourage community members to attend the forums and share their thoughts,\u201d said Moore. &nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the community engagement process, Public Sector Search &amp; Consulting will gather and screen applications.
