{"id":6939,"date":"2019-02-05T12:11:49","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T20:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=6939"},"modified":"2019-02-05T12:11:50","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T20:11:50","slug":"fire-damages-cornell-avenue-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/fire-damages-cornell-avenue-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Damages Cornell Avenue Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Damage to a house in the 600\nblock of Cornell Avenue in Yakima is estimated to be about $75,000 following a\nfire Tuesday morning. <em>(It is the practice\nof the Yakima Fire Department to not release the specific address of a private\nhome involved in a fire or other emergency response)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Fire Department (YFD)\ncrews responded to a call of a house fire in the 600 block of Cornell Avenue at\nabout 7:30 am Tuesday.&nbsp; The five people\nliving in the home (two adults and two children in the downstairs unit, one adult\nin the upstairs unit), as well as four dogs that were inside, safely exited the\nbuilding.&nbsp; The two children and the one\nadult living in the upstairs unit were treated for smoke inhalation at a local\nhospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The house, which was extensively\ndamaged by fire, smoke, and water, is estimated to be worth about $150,000.&nbsp; The five people displaced by the fire are\nreceiving assistance from the American Red Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Cornell-Avenue-House-Fire-News-Release.pdf\">Cornell Avenue House Fire &#8211; News Release<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Cornell-Avenue-House-Fire-News-Release.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Damage to a house in the 600 block of Cornell Avenue in Yakima is estimated to be about $75,000 following a fire Tuesday morning.
