{"id":7068,"date":"2019-03-06T16:20:07","date_gmt":"2019-03-07T00:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7068"},"modified":"2019-03-06T16:20:08","modified_gmt":"2019-03-07T00:20:08","slug":"fire-damages-4th-street-apartment-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/fire-damages-4th-street-apartment-building\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Damages 4th Street Apartment Building"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One person was injured and\napproximately 40 people were evacuated this morning, Wednesday, due to a fire\nat an apartment building on South 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street near Downtown Yakima. <em>(It is the practice of the Yakima Fire\nDepartment to not release the specific address of a private home involved in a\nfire or other emergency response)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Fire Department (YFD)\ncrews responded to the call of a third-floor apartment on fire at about 10:00\nam this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One resident was injured and\ntaken to a hospital for treatment of facial burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately 40 residents of the\napartment building, and their pets, were evacuated and transported in a Yakima\nTransit bus to a Red Cross shelter. The Yakima Police Department assisted with\nthe evacuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fire caused an estimated\n$50,000 in damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately 25 YFD firefighters\nwere on scene responding to the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and remains under investigation.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/4th-Street-Apartment-Fire-News-Release.pdf\">4th Street Apartment Fire &#8211; News Release<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/4th-Street-Apartment-Fire-News-Release.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One person was injured and approximately 40 people were evacuated this morning, Wednesday, due to a fire at an apartment building on South 4th Street near Downtown Yakima.
