{"id":7099,"date":"2019-03-13T10:30:46","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T17:30:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7099"},"modified":"2019-03-14T08:23:54","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T15:23:54","slug":"emergency-notification-system-available-for-area-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/emergency-notification-system-available-for-area-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Notification System Available for Area Residents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A free service\nis available to Yakima area residents that provides emergency alerts via voice\nor text communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Offered by\nEverbridge, the service is the emergency notification system for Yakima Valley Emergency\nManagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I encourage City of Yakima residents to sign up for this system so they can stay in the know when there are emergencies in our area,&#8221; said Assistant Yakima Mayor Dulce Guti\u00e9rrez, who also chairs the City Council&#8217;s Public Safety Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sign up for the emergency alert system by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yakimacounty.us\/AlertYakima\">www.yakimacounty.us\/AlertYakima<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information is also\navailable by visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.co.yakima.wa.us\/oem\">www.co.yakima.wa.us\/oem<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It only\ntakes a couple of minutes to sign up and is very simple,&#8221; said Yakima Fire\nChief Aaron Markham. &#8220;If someone is signing up via a mobile device they\nneed to go to the app store and download Everbridge.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users can opt-in\nto enter their contact information and subscribe to emergency notifications\nbased on their location. The information is protected and will not be used for\nany other purpose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They can also\nspecify particular times during the day when they would prefer to block\nnotifications.
