City of Yakima crews are at work sweeping\neach day to remove winter gravel from City streets. The street sweeping program\nbegan about a month ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Due to the severity of the winter,\nthere is more of a sand\/gravel mix left on the street after the snow\nmelts,” said Streets & Traffic Manager Joe Rosenlund. “City\nstreet crews have nearly completed sweeping the main arterials and are starting\non neighborhood streets.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe City is using six to eight sweepers,\nbut it is a time consuming process. Please be patient, we will get to your\nneighborhood as soon as we can,” Rosenlund said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The schedule for this type of project is\nsubject to change daily depending on City Refuse Division schedules, as well as\nweather, equipment failure, and emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
